The commission held a panel discussion on the role of property registration in preventing corruption.

The Addis Ababa City Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has held a panel discussion with those who registered their assets and selected sector schools ethics monitoring departments on the role of property registration in preventing corruption.The commission's deputy commissioner Asgedew H/Giorgis stated that the commission has many missions. One of these activities is to register and inform the assets. He pointed out that the importance of registering assets is to prevent corruption, to prevent conflict of interest and to speed up the investigation of corruption.In the fiscal year 5,215 leaders, 17,743 directors and team leaders and 2,527 employees in selected sectors, the deputy commissioner said that in total 25,485 people were registered.The deputy commissioner has called for the city's community and media to contribute in the work done to prevent corruption.Mrs. Kidist Yibeltal, the director of the commission's wealth registration and notification directorate, stated that registering wealth helps to create transparency and accountability. The assets that need to be registered are movable, non-movable property, special incomes and debts.Those who participated in the panel discussion have requested that the commission to continue the work done on ethics building and corruption prevention work and pay attention to property registration and notification. Aklew has said that leaders who did not participate in the property registration should be held accountable according to the decree.
